When Adam West died on June 9th, he sadly joined much of the amazing alumni of the Batman TV series at that giant Bat Signal in the Sky. His effect on the history of Batman was truly great, and in remembering him we recall just how impactful his role in the television show became. During its mid-60's run, a great number of major stars appeared as villains on the show, which aired for 3 seasons. The show was so off-beat and quirky, it's amazing that the producers convinced these screen legends to join in on the fun, but that was the whole trick, it was FUN. Here are some of the most legendary actors and actresses to have worked with the Batman show:
Legendary movie monster star Vincent Price starred as the bizarre "Egghead"
Eli Wallach, famous mostly for starring in Westerns like The Magnificent Seven and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly appeared as "Mr. Freeze."
Cesar Romero had over 100 credits to his name in show businesss, including starring six times in movies as The Cisco Kid. His turn as The Joker was legendary.
Cliff Robertson, who played Uncle Ben in the Spiderman movies most recently, took a turn as Shame.
Legendary performer Eartha Kitt, who's version of the song "Santa Baby" is famous worldwide, was one of two women to star as Catwoman on the show
Tony Award-winning stage actress *Julie Newmar *was the other.
Anne Baxter was nominated for an Academy Award for the title roll in "All About Eve", later she starred as "Olga, Queen Of The Cossacks."
John Astin is most famous for playing Gomez Addams Family. Did you know he also appeared as The Riddler?
Astin's TV wife Carolyn Jones, who played Morticia Addams, made an appearance as "Marsha, Queen Of Diamonds."
