It's been proven: coconut oil is terrible for you. It turns out the American Heart Association has always said it was terrible for you, but many new age, hippie, crunchy organic types disagreed. The AMA was right. So you might want to shift back to butter!

Now before you freak out too much, Coconut oil is still pretty awesome and healthy as a moisturizer or conditioner, just don't cook with it! It's worse than beef drippings! It's probably not a good idea to eat a spoonful of it straight either. Or add it to your morning smoothie. In fact, 100 years ago, some (coco) nut named August Engelhardt tried to live on nothing but coconut. He lasted 17 years before he died, after being "reduced to a mentally ill, rheumatic, severely malnourished sack of bones with ulcers on his legs." Clearly, coconut is not such a superfood after all.
