"I remember having a conversation in high school with my friends one day, if there was a school shooter in high school who would it be? We settled on this kid Jordan. Jordan got arrested a year later for having bomb-making materials at his home, he supposedly confessed to a priest that he wanted to kill a few select students and administrators."
"When I was 16 I had a friend who's dad would go out late for 'work' and my friends and I would always joke that he was going to see a side chick. Fast forward a year later, his mom finds out the dad has been cheating for 2 years and is leaving the family for the now pregnant mistress. Boy, was that awkward when it turned out we were right."
"My kids' elementary school had a bad principal two years ago. The school board brought in a new principal this last year. This guy was loved by everyone. Teachers, parents, kids - they all LOVED him. He was constantly up and around the school, talking to the kids, eating lunch with them, visiting classrooms, etc. He was deeply involved with the school and it made a difference. Test scores were up, kids were happier, and teacher morale was up. Near the end of school, I sat across a table from him during the talent show. I said 'Hi' and told him that he must have the best job in the world. He said, 'Yep. I have the best job in the world!' I had never spoken to him in person or been near him, and his response and body language made my spidey senses tingle. He just seemed a little off.
I suddenly didn't feel so good about the guy but dismissed it because weird people get along in the world just fine, most of the time. A week after school was out, the school board called a special parent meeting at the school, subject unknown. It turns out that he was arrested on possession of child porn. As the details came out, it was revealed that he was reprimanded for giving gifts to a young boy years ago as a teacher at another school in the same district. Now that the investigation is underway, we are learning that he had thousands of CP images and videos on his home computer, and pictures of kids from the school at his home. So far, there is no evidence that he has had inappropriate contact with any of the kids from our school, but d---."
"I always wondered about my organ instructor in college. He was married with two children. Yet I remember sitting on the organ during lessons with him 'glancing' at my crotch or finding excuses to touch my hands in order to demonstrate finger technique. After graduation, he confessed that he had been struggling with his emotions - not wanting to betray his wife and marriage, but 'craving' something more, something deeper - with a male. I wished him luck and all the best as he worked through this - suggesting that he not look toward students (past or present) for the fulfillment he was seeking."
"My family had this landscaper for like 23 years. He started helping out with our yard when he was in high school (before I was born) and my mom and dad loved him - they even helped him with seed money to start his own landscaping company that ended up doing really well. They went to his wedding, knew his family, all that family friend crap. Starting when I was a really little kid (like, 2 or 3) I would lose my s--- every time he came over. I didn't know why, my family didn't know why, I just seemed to blatantly hate/fear this guy for no reason. He was really charismatic, nice, good-looking... there was literally nothing sketchy about him at all.
My weird reaction to his presence continued until we sold the house when I was 16 (I just got better at hiding it). My mom kept in casual contact with Mr. Pretty Landscaper-Man, but they lost touch after awhile. Fast forward to 2014 and we find out he's been arrested (and later convicted) for raping and attempting to hang his wife. His kids called the cops on him and when they showed up he was covered in blood and said something like 'Well, I might as well get this over with. She's in here,' and brought them to the garage where he'd strung her up with a stool under her feet. I still don't know why I was so scared of him back then."
"My mother went to BYU in the mid-70s. The school elders would always try and match non-Mormons with Mormons to try and get them to join the faith. My mom was introduced to a young man by the Mormon elders and was invited to go on a ski trip with a bunch of other people. She was supposed to get a ride with the young man that she was introduced to but felt that something was off about him and decided to go up with one of her friends instead. It turns out that the guy was Ted Bundy."
"Oh boy, this happened a few times to my dad. Dad actually told mom to keep my brothers/sisters away from a neighbor who introduced himself after moving in. A few years later, he was arrested as a pedophile. He also pegged another guy he saw in an elevator as 'something off about him' even though they never talked! Bam! Another pedophile. My dad has a 6th sense for these people or something."
"When I was about 14 my mom started dating a guy (Kevin) she met through a friend of a friend. The minute I met him I did not like him. I just knew there was something weird. I couldn't place it. He was nice, he tried to be friendly with my half brother and I to win us over. He had two kids as well, one boy 4 years younger than me and one girl about 8 years younger than me. Over the course of a couple of months I picked up on some weird things when we'd be around him. He would tell me I should wear my hair down because boys like it more. He noticed I slept in my room with the doors locked (I was afraid of him) and he would mention that I shouldn't do that in case of emergency, just things like that.
One night my brother and I were staying at his house (my mom worked nights) and his little girl did not want to sleep in her bed but wanted to sleep in his. He asked me to lay down with her while he did work in his office to try and get her to sleep. I agreed to. After a bit he started pestering me about if I was thirsty or not. 'Are you thirsty?' 'No.' 'Are you sure? I can get you something.' 'Yea I'm sure.' This kept up for a bit off and on 'til finally, I said yes to some water. He got me some and brought it to me and I had a weird flash to a Harry Potter book, something about Moody being disappointed in Harry taking an unknown drink from an enemy. So I took the water and sat it down and didn't drink it. After a bit he came in and asked if I drank my cup. I hadn't obviously and his daughter was asleep by then. I picked her up and put her in her own bed and went to sleep in the room with my half brother (I had my own room at his house but I was afraid to sleep alone that night).
I am really creeped out by that night and tell my mom and she refuses to believe me. So, I tell my brother's dad that I never want to go back to the guy's house and why. A big drama starts over it. My mom is mad because I'm accusing her bf of being a creep and my brother's dad is raising hell about it and insisting my brother and I never spend the night there again. I end up basically living with my brother's dad for about a month until my mom finally leaves the guy. Fast forward five years, my mom (who has worked for the police for a long time) comes home and goes 'you'll never guess who we brought in last night for touching a little girl.' I mean, there's only one person I could think of so, 'Kevin.' She was completely dumbfounded and refused to believe that I called this a long time ago. Turns out, his daughter brought a friend over to spend the night and she told her mom he tried to get her to show him this or that, but did not succeed."
"Back in high school my best friend since preschool started to date a guy that I occasionally talked to on the bus. He seemed pretty cool until they got about a month into dating, that's when his controlling behavior started to show. He drove us to the mall one day and left us there because he got angry about me talking to his girlfriend about my relationships. He monitored her calls and texts, and she wasn't allowed to even mention another guy. He forced her into a corner at prom and danced in front of her so others could see her then told her that her dancing was her trying to impress other guys. My other friend and I predicted he was going to get her pregnant right before graduation so she would be stuck with him because he made it very clear she was never going to leave him. A couple of years later, she was pregnant 2 months before graduation. They got married and are living miserably ever after."
"There was this internet/gaming cafe that opened near the place I worked at the time. Normally that sort of thing would be right up my alley, and there was nothing that should give off a sketchy vibe, but I had such a strong, weird feeling about it, to the point that I'd actually cross the street instead of walking directly in front of it. The owner ended up being arrested for drugging and kidnapping female customers."
"This guy I grew up with was always very cool and a good worker. We ended up going to a couple colleges together and worked part time together. But he always seemed really off to me for some reason. I always had fun around him and we had great times but I always hesitated when he wanted to hang out. One day I get a call to come hang out with him. I had a really bad feeling about it and told him I was busy. Later that day he murdered his parents and smeared their blood all over the walls in writing. A couple days later I heard about it on the news at like 3 am in the morning. He had no other family; and as far as I know, I was the only friend he had that knows he's in prison now. His Facebook is just frozen on the day he was arrested. No one has posted anything and he hasn't updated it (obviously)."
"There was this girl in college (let's call her Ann) who, at first, I was friendly with, but only because I went to a very small school - no need to make any enemies. I always thought she was pretty weird, and as the years went on I would hear rumors of her behaving pretty bizarrely when she would get drunk and be at parties, but I never witnessed this odd behavior myself. By our senior year, Ann only really had one friend (let's call her Kate). They were really close, did everything together, shared an apartment together. Kate was kind of weird, but far more approachable and friendly.
One night, I was in class and I left to get something from my studio (I went to art school). When I entered the senior studios I saw a cop and Kate talking. I tried to ignore what was going on and went back to my class, but it definitely seemed weird. A couple days later, Kate approached me and some of my friends and asked to sit with us while we ate lunch. Kate started to tell us what happened. She and Ann got into a fight (which, we never figured out what that fight was about) and Ann chased Kate out of the apartment to her car. Ann started banging on the car, the windows, yelling at her. Kate drove away and went to the police station, which was right down the street. Kate's a small girl, probably no more than 115lbs and standing at about 5'5", Ann was bigger and could've totally managed to hurt her, if that's what Ann was trying to do. Here comes the creepy part.
Kate and a cop went back to the apartment, at which time, Ann had left. When they went into Kate's room they saw Ann had covered everything in there -- her bed, her sheet, things on her desk, literally everything-- with red lipstick and lube. They went into Ann's room and they saw Ann had taken clothes from Kate, mostly underwear, as well as photos that Kate had of her and her father when she was younger, as well as a small doll that a friend of Kate's made for her. The doll was supposed to be Kate, and it was clear that Ann was performing some classic Voodoo stuff on the doll, pins in the eyes and heart, things like that.
What came of this was a restraining order, Kate wasn't allowed at the school certain days of the week, Ann wasn't allowed at the school certain days of the week. Ann never approached any of us, never wanted to give her side of things. All I ever heard of her remark on the situation was 'Kate was overreacting, I don't see why she's made such a big deal of this, friends fight sometimes.' I don't know. She was f---ing weird. No idea where she is now, but I say that b---- was cray."
"My mom and her husband had a friend living with them - a man who had moved to help them out in their business and he had a lot of side gigs going - running a convention, managing a couple of bands, etc. I couldn't figure out why, but I just never liked or trusted the guy. Got some scolding from mom for my standoffishness because of this situation. Turns out this man was running a Ponzi scheme, and when it collapsed under its own weight, he fled to Mexico."
"One of my teachers always gave me an extremely uncomfortable vibe, like something was off, yet I couldn't put my finger on what it was. Because I was a child, I almost felt guilty of being so anxious around him, especially because he was usually very nice to everyone. If I ever told anyone I thought he was creepy people almost got mad at me. If he ever asked me to stay for a while after a class I freaked out and just hoped to escape quickly. He was convicted of child pornography when I was 15."
"A few years ago, I was going through a rough patch with my best friend. We were nice to each other, but things were still tense. At the same time, he met a gorgeous girl who seemed crazy for him. When I met her two weeks into them dating, they seemed really head over heels for each other. They moved in with each other within 2 or 3 months, which seemed really fast. By that point, I rarely saw him, so I wasn't sure if it was because he was still angry with me, if he was just really occupied with his new gf or both.
5 months into the relationship, she proposed to him. She was really nice and gracious, but I always felt something was kind of fake about her. Out of fear of estranging my friend further, I kept it to myself since I couldn't prove anything. I remember at their engagement party, there were about 30 or so of her friends but only 7 of his, even though I knew he had way more friends than us 7. I wasn't sure if he willingly chose to only invite so few of his friends or if it was her decision. As nice as she was, she didn't make much effort to speak to any of us and spoke to me even less because I was the only single guy in the group. I only saw my friend 3 times throughout the entire relationship and, except for the last time, when he snuck out to hang out, she was always there. He broke it off with her shortly afterward.
It was more or less what I had suspected: she was super possessive of him and he couldn't do anything/go anywhere without her permission, hence me never seeing him. She was more interested in the concept of being married and having a man than who he really was as a person, which was why she was only interested in speaking to other coupled friends and not me. He was like her little puppy dog that she could show off to everyone. She ended up keeping the engagement ring out of spite. He nearly broke into the condo he had since moved out of to get the ring back, but I talked him out of it and convinced him to move on."
"In broadcast school, there was this 50-something guy in the class below mine. He was just so creepy and socially odd. He also wanted everybody to call him Jim Matthews - neither his first or last name. This seemed strange; what a boring nickname to give yourself. He later got fired from a low-level newsroom job when they learned he used to be a teacher, who'd been charged for having a relationship with a student. That's why he wanted to use an alter-ego. Made me feel better for hating him."
"This one was about my freshman bio teacher. I never really got along with her, but it was an easy class and I'm pretty good at taking tests. So the fact that I could play on my phone and talk the entire time and still get an A pissed her off. The first semester went by with her trying to bust me for something and trying to sink my grade with subject assignments. However, at the start of the 2nd semester I got a vibe that she had gotten pregnant. I have no idea why I thought this, I just had a strong feeling it was so. So I started studying her and her behavior. I noticed a more tired and introspective vibe which I took as confirmation of the impending baby. I then spent the next few months trying to convince everyone in the class of my theory. No one really believed me, but I didn't really care and kept at it. Fast forward to mid-April, we all sit down and she says she has an announcement, 'I'm going to have a child!' Literally every single person in the room turned in their chairs and looked at me in disbelief. Needless to say I felt pretty cool after that incident."
