Is it that time again already? This year's holidays are almost a memory, and it's time to start thinking about bettering ourselves in the upcoming year. New Year's resolutions come and go, but how many of us will really see them through? Below are the common New Year's resolutions we know you'll never fulfill.

Spending More Time With Family
Spending More Time With Family
Depending on your particular family, making an effort to spend more time with them may not be such a good idea. The stress of juggling your schedule around to accommodate more family time may just possibly lead to loss of time at work, which means less money to pay off those gift giving debts, overeating and smoking, ruining your chances of adhering to a few resolutions we've already listed.
Losing Weight
Losing Weight
Losing weight seems to be the number 1 resolution of choice. But with the love affair most Americans have with food, evident by the rise in obesity, great will is necessary to actually achieve this one. If you can find the time to slice, weigh and prepare by hand all the food that shall pass your lips, more power to you.
Quit Smoking
Quit Smoking
The next generation of up and comers is thankfully more aware of the negative effects of tobacco than the previous one. But for those of us who ignored all the scientific proof and warnings about the hazards of tobacco, to quit smoking is usually pondered throughout the year. But the New Year always seems like a good time to dive into tobacco abstinence, only to fail yet again.
Learn Something New
Learn Something New
Resolving to learn something new every year is an intriguing thought. Once you do the research just to figure out what it is that you want to learn about, haven't you already fulfilled your resolution? Job well done in my book.
Dieting and Eating Healthy
Dieting and Eating Healthy
Coming in next in the top New Year's resolution picks is eating healthier and dieting. Sadly, this poses the same problems as losing weight, in that unhealthy food is so readily available and tempting; not to mention tasty.
Getting Out Of Debt
Getting Out Of Debt
Opting to get out of debt and save money may not be so much of a choice as it is a requirement once the holiday spending frenzy has just past. Sure, it sounds good in your head, but once put to paper, all the red you see is reminiscent of the very reason you're in such debt, the holidays. And who can save when there's so much debt to pay off?
Travel Somewhere New
Travel Somewhere New
The newest destination most of us have the time, money or the patience to travel to is the new outlet mall that just opened up. Have you ever been on a road trip with your kids, or paid for airline tickets for the entire family? More than not, neither are worth the trip.
Lower Stress Levels
Lower Stress Levels
Resolving to sashay through the coming year with less stress in your life sounds more like it would take an act of God rather than a mere resolution. As if stress were that easy to control and manage. I'm getting stressed just thinking about it.
Do Volunteer Work
Do Volunteer Work
Committing to do some volunteer work would be a righteous option for the next 12 months. Unfortunately, most people don't think much about the less fortunate until the holiday season when they are filled with the joys of their own fortunate lives. Of all the resolution choices you're likely to fail at, this one deserves more effort in trying to accomplish.
Stop Drinking
Stop Drinking
Choosing to drink less in the new year may be another one of those forced resolutions. We've all had those wicked, liquor-soaked mornings where we've sworn off drinking forever, only to jump right back on the wagon once the hangover becomes a not so distant memory. After all the holiday eggnog and alcohol-infused festivities, this resolution is sure to be a top pick at some point.
Find Your Soul Mate
Find Your Soul Mate
Resolving to find your soul mate is like saying you are determined to not get sick during the coming year. It may happen, but your chances aren't great. You're destined to fail if you select this one because, as they say, you'll only find your true mate once you stop looking.
Reject Negative Thinking
Reject Negative Thinking
To those who elect to reject negative thinking in the new year, kudos to you. You know you can't pull off something like this, it'll never happen, just give up now before even trying. Well, is it working? Are you rejecting my negative vibes? Didn't think so.
Get Organized
Get Organized
Deciding to get more organized could possibly solve several problems with your life. Not having to perform a marathon house cleaning before your in-laws come for their yearly visit, or being able to find things when you need them can be very rewarding. Now where'd I leave those keys?
